False Creek Local Guide

Welcome to the False Creek Local Guide for current and future residents of Moberly Apartments.

False Creek

Moberly Apartments are located on the south shore of False Creek. This is one of the closest and most popular residential areas south of the downtown core. The False Creek area is bounded by the waters of False Creek to the north, 6th Avenue to the south, the Granville Street Bridge on the west and Cambie Street Bridge on the east. False Creek was voted Vancouver’s best neighborhood, and for good reason.

False Creek has an abundance of parks and green space for you to enjoy the outdoors. It is right on the water, which provides beautiful views and access to the seawall. It is located close to Granville Island, Olympic Village, Yaletown, and Downtown. Despite being so close to the city centre, it retains its own quiet and unique village-like qualities. All of this while being within arms reach of everywhere in the city. The area’s unique location and well planned surroundings provide great transportation and recreation options, great walkability and some of the best cycling options available. There are many nearby grocery stores as well as local dining and shopping options.

Transportation

Getting around town is easy from Moberly Apartments. Whether you are driving your own vehicle, using sustainable modes of transport, public transit, or even traveling by water!

Cars & Motorcycles

For your personal vehicles we have gated underground parking available in all of our buildings. There is also street parking and nearby parking lots for visitors and guests.

Walk, Bike, Roll

At Moberly Apartments you will be living just steps from the famous Vancouver Seawall. So make the most of living next to the longest continuous waterfront walking and cycling path in the world! To take advantage of our location, we offer secure bike rooms to store your bike. Additionally, many suites have in suite storage rooms that can accommodate bikes. And don’t worry, feel free to take them in the elevator! If you don’t have your own bike, there is a Mobi Bike Share Station located at Stamps Landing.

Public Transit

We are located close to many of Vancouver’s excellent public transit options. The Olympic Village Canada Line Station is only a couple minute walk from our buildings. This train will quickly get you to the Vancouver Airport (YVR), Langara College, City Hall, and many shopping and dining locations. Nearby Translink bus stops include the 50 Waterfront Station/ False Creek South and 84 UBC/ VCC-Clark Station. Vancouver also now offers (finally) ride share providers (Uber, Lyft), as well as traditional taxis.

Water

Not many neighborhoods in this city, or in this country, allow you to commute or travel by water. Stamps Landing is a pick up and drop off location for False Creek Ferries and the Aquabus. You can take advantage of these unique offerings to travel by boat to many of the sights and attractions around False Creek. For example, Yaletown, Olympic Village, Science World, Granville Island, and the Vancouver Maritime Museum. If you have your own boat, Stamps Landing is also home to Heather Civic Marina. If you don’t have your own boat, you can always rent one at Granville Island!

Food & Drink

Groceries

Within walking (or driving) distance there is a Save-On-Foods and Whole Foods Market on Cambie St., Urban Fare in Olympic Village, and of course the Granville Island Public Market. Just up the hill there is a No Frills on Broadway and at City Square there is Kin’s Farm Market and Sungiven Foods. Costco is a short 5 minute drive.

Bars & Restaurants

Vancouver has no shortage of dining options; however, the closest dining and drinking establishments are Branas, the Wicklow, Mahoney, and the Convivial Cafe & Bakery. Some of the many other options available nearby include: 6th Ave., Cambie St., Broadway, Olympic Village, Main St., Granville Island, Yaletown, Downtown, etc.

Outdoor Activities

Seawall

As we mentioned before, the seawall is an excellent place to walk, run, ride, rollerblade, roller skate, skateboard, etc.

Sports Fields & Courts

There are tennis courts located on top of the parking garage across the street from our building at 655 Moberly Rd. False Creek Elementary School has basketball courts, a soccer field, and baseball diamond. Granville Island has tennis courts and basketball courts.

In just a 30-45 minute drive you can be on the North Shore mountains, including Grouse Mountain, Cypress Mountain, and Mt Seymour, while Squamish is roughly an hour drive away, and Whistler & Blackcomb is about two hours drive.

Water Sports

You can launch your inflatable kayak or paddle board from the dock at Stamps Landing, or find kayak, canoe, paddle board, water bike rentals in Olympic Village or Granville Island. Just a friendly reminder and disclaimer, please do not swim in False Creek.
